Starting The Next Mafia Book, Back Pain, and Cold Weather

Happy Monday, Friends! I’m taking a social media break this week! I saw people talking about a Meta blackout to protest the TikTok situation as well as the new Meta policies, and then TikTok bascially showed its hand as political propoganda yesterday, so I’m just staying away from all of it for a week. A week to turn down the noise and avoid all the drama and politics sounds lovely, so I’m sticking with the plan.

I started on Unhinged Little Angel last week. What did you all think of the first chapter(s)? I’m still getting a feel for these characters, but I’m having a lot of fun with it so far. The fun thing about writing the mafia books is that I feel a lot fewer constraints and I get the chance to push the limits and be a little wild and crazy with it. Some really exciting chapters coming this week that I’m looking forward to getting to!

Some audio news: Virgin Skin is being proofed as we speak, so that will be the audio benefit to the $25 and $50 tiers this month, and there’s still time to upgrade if you want to have that land right in your inbox when it’s ready.

On a personal front, I had my back injection last week and… I’m out of pain! I’m not kidding when I tell you that it took me 2 full days after the pain from the injection itself to wear off to process that I wasn’t in pain. Like my brain could not compute the feeling of NOT pain. I’m still feeling very untrusting of it, worrying that if I move wrong or breathe wrong the pain will come rushing back or that it’ll just wear off and I’ll wake up in pain again tomorrow. But I’m trying to just focus on the positive and take this pain-free time to do the exercises the PT gave me so that hopefully by the time the steroids do wear off, I’ll be in a better place than before. But overall, great news on that front.

It’s coooooooold here this week, so I’m just staying inside bundled up for the next few days, focusing on writing. And then Chris and I have a fun date night out later in the week, so I’ll be looking forward to that this week.
